What began as a hobby, back in 2004 when we acquired a small flock of these hardy animals, grew into a passion and now into an obsession -

and preserving these amazing animals which have shared our land since arriving with the migrating tribes as far back as 200 A.D. became our mission.

We now manage the largest breeding flock of stud quality Pedi Sheep in the world.

Our top ram and top ewe were both placed Senior Grand Champion at the 2007 Pretoria Show.

Our top ram was the Grand Champion breeding ram at the 2008 Pretoria Show.

Our top ewe placed 2nd at Bela-Bela in 2010.

GRASS FED NGUNI BEEF CATTLE

There is a growing demand for natural grass fed beef with as little chemical treatment of the live animals as possible and with no hormone additives in the feed used. To cater to this market there is no more suitable breed than the highly adapted, low maintenance Nguni. The Nguni is an African cow, able to calve easily every year and produce more meat per hectare at less cost than any of the exotic breeds.

They simply look good, are best ranched extensively, with the bulls remaining with the herd 10 out of 12 months of the year, and taste great. The extra premium on their hides, which are sought after by the furniture and fashion trade add to their profitability.

Aside from protein and salt licks our cattle eat nothing other than the large variety of good grasses and bush forage here at Thaba Manzi. We truly love our Nguni cattle and it shows in the quality of our herd.
